On December 17th, 2022 at 4 p.m. The Community Cultural Learning Center of Troy Alabama hosted its First Annual Kwanzaa Celebration. Directors Anthony and Belinda Askew invited Ms. Ada Berry(Chairwoman) and The Wiregrass Black Chamber of Commerce to assist in the planning and preparation of this momentous occasion. Kwanzaa is an African American holiday observed by African communities throughout the world that celebrates Family, Community, and Culture. Surrounding Communities learned, participated, and helped celebrate Kwanzaa. The event was a festive time of fun and celebration of Black African Culture. The event was free and open to the public. It featured dialogue, narratives, poetry, dancing, singing, drumming, other music, and of course feasting. The Chamber also brought local vendors that displayed both traditional and modern clothing and accessories.
We are asking that everyone join the Wiregrass Black Chamber of Commerce. The organization is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization. Membership is a big part of the organizations fundraising. The Chamber will also be holding various fundraising events throughout the year. You can donate by sendig a check to our P.O. box, through cashapp, and Paypal. More opportunities and options to come.
